www.surlalunefairytales.com/storytime/index.html by Heidi Anne Heiner. SurLaLane Storytime happens in a real place, once a week during the school year for a large group of friends and acquaintances. Family matters have prevented me from holding a regular job since leaving my position as a children's librarian in California several years ago. The closets in my house and brain are filled with storytime materials. I also have a notebook I compiled of themes while working in California. Instead of letting all of these resources wither away, I've decided to share it on the web in conjunction with my long-lived fairy tales site.

http://nancykeane.com/rl The most comprehensive booklist site available (In my opinion). ATN (All Together Now) reading lists were started in 1996 for librarians not only to use as a resource but to contribute as well.

http://atn-reading-lists.wikispaces.com/ ATN Reading Lists was started in 1996 as part of a librarian collaborative project, All Together Now, begun by Dale Copps. The intention was that librarians could not only use this resource but contribute to it as well. At that time, there were several of us who began web sites and hoped that we could use this fairly new technology as a place to share and collaborate. As well intended as the goal was, it soon became apparent that the vision was really not viable at that time. Dale handed the list over to Nancy Keane in 1999. ATN Book Lists has grown significantly since its birth in 1996 and now there are over 1,300 lists on the site! This has made keeping the index manageable a cumbersome task. Keeping the lists up to date is even harder. Some of the original lists are now very outdated. But we now enter wiki territory. Our original goal of a librarian collaborative is finally reality. By using wikispaces, the lists can be updated, added to, deleted from, corrected, etc. by librarians all over the world. How exciting is that!! The original lists are still on the web at

http://www.nancykeane.com/rl The lists are also included in this wiki. It is hoped that you will feel free to help maintain the ATN reading lists so that they will be valuable to all. ALL TOGETHER NOW!

http://librarygoddesses.pbwiki.com We all have booklists, we all create booklists...So, let's share them...in one place which is easily accessible to anyone and everyone all the time. Collaborate and share your knowledge of books with other librarians from across the US and Canada. We just took the bubble wrap off this wiki...it's brand new and will grow very quickly in the coming weeks. Stop by and contribute what you can, when you can.

http://www.niehs.nih.gov/kids/musicchild.htm National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences National Institutes of Health (NIH) Department of Health and Human Services Everything in your environment may have some impact on your health. Yes, that even includes music -- music is an important part of our "environment". Although NIEHS does not study the effects of music on the body, other scientists have studied its impact on physical and mental functions for many years. Most notably, music can measurably reduce stress and pain levels. For example, research supported by the National Institute of Nursing Research recently found that listening to music reduced patients' pain levels following major abdominal surgery. And Micheal Holton, a 1st Place winner in the Biological Sciences category of an NIEHS sponsored Science Fair also determined that the tempo of music can affect your heart rate. But there is another reason that NIEHS includes this sing-along section for its visitors -- sing along activities are very educational. Please learn more about the educational purpose of the NIEHS Kids' Pages and visit other Research Resources on the Educational Benefits of Music to see how music may help you build a healthier life and brighter future.
