Incentives for babies & toddlers
Hello all! I use time as the criteria for earning incentives for summer reading, but I also have children record the books they have read and keep a collective count that is displayed in the library. For example, last year a link was placed on a paper chain for each book a child read, and we all watched as the chain grew and wrapped around the entire room. This year I was thinking of getting a glass container of some sort and having the children drop in a marble for each book they read. Thought it would be fun to watch it fill up, and at the end have a contest to see who can guess the correct # of marbles, and thus # of books read during the summer. So, I have two questions - does anyone have a good source for purchasing LOTS of marbles on the cheap?
BBs would be smaller and cheaper.
Monika mentioned that having the Teddy Bear parade at 2 p.m. was hard on the kids in the heat, and the people at the retirement home too. Also hard on kids who take afternoon naps. They used to have it at 10 a.m.
