The King's Cookie

The King made a giant cookie.

It was round. It was brown and it smelled delicious.

The King went to pick it up but the Queen shouted, "Stop! Stop! The cookie might be too hot! I will taste it for you."

So the Queen went nibble nibble, munch munch, gobble gobble, crunch crunch!

And some of the cookie was gone.

The King went to pick it up but the Prince shouted, "Stop! Stop! The cookie might be too cold! I will taste it for you."

So the Prince went nibble nibble, munch munch, gobble gobble, crunch crunch!

And some of the cookie was gone.

The King went to pick it up but the Knight shouted, "Stop! Stop! The cookie might be too sour! I will taste it for you."

So the Knight went nibble nibble, munch munch, gobble gobble, crunch crunch!

And the cookie was all gone.

"My cookie!" cried the king.

So the king made another giant cookie.

It was round. It was brown and it smelled delicious.

The King went to pick it up.

"Stop! Stop!" shouted the Queen, the Prince and the Knight.

"We will taste it for you."

"No!" said the king, and he ate it all up.

I made felt out of the first one: 4 cookies (whole, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4) plus 4

faces for each of the characters. It would also work with just the cookies, and not the faces.

Songs

I'm a Knight in Armor

Tune: "I'm a Little Teapot"

I'm a knight in armor, look at me.

See how shiny I can be.

With my visor up my eyes you'll see.

But with it down it protects me.

All Around the Castle

(To the tune of "Pop Goes the Weasel")

All around the castle

The knight chased the dragon

The dragon thought it was all in fun

ROAR went the dragon!

Did You Ever See a Dragon!

(Tune: "Did You Ever See a Lassie?")

Did you ever see a dragon,

A dragon, a dragon.

Did you ever see a dragon

Breathe hot fire and grey smoke?

Breathe hot fire and grey smoke?

Breath hot fire and grey smoke.

Did you ever see a dragon

Breathe hot fire and grey smoke?

If You're a Dragon

(Tune: "If You're Happy and You Know it")

If you're a dragon, and you know it,

Breathe hot fire.

If you're a dragon, and you know it,

Breathe hot fire.

If you're a dragon, and you know it,

Then your breath will surely show it.

If you're a dragon, and you know it,

Breathe hot fire.

If you're a dragon, and you know it,

Swish your tail.

If you're a dragon, and you know it,

Swish your tail.

If you're a dragon, and you know it,

Then your tail will surely show it.

If you're a dragon, and you know it,

Swish your tail.

If you're a dragon, and you know it,

ROAR! out loud.

If you're a dragon, and you know it,

ROAR! out loud.

If you're a dragon, and you know it,

Then your roar will surely show it.

If you're a dragon, and you know it,

ROAR! out loud.

I'm a Little Dragon

(Tune: "I'm a Little Teapot")

I'm a little dragon, strong and stout.

Here is my tail, and here is my snout.

If you get me upset, you better watch out!

I'll give you something to shout about!

THE MAGIC STOVE

(tune: "The Bear Went Over the Mountain")

What a thief the king is, / What a thief the king is,

Oh, what a thief the king is, / He stole the magic stove.

He stole the magic stove; / He stole the magic stove,

Oh, what a thief the king is, / He stole the magic stove.

The rooster chased the king, / The rooster chased the king,

The rooster chased the king, / To get the magic stove.

To get the magic stove, / To get the magic stove.

The rooster chased the king, / To get the magic stove.

The rooster got it back, / The rooster got it back.

The rooster got it back, / He saved the magic stove.

He saved the magic stove, / He saved the magic stove.

The rooster got it back, / He saved the magic stove.

Various

The Queen of Hearts,

She made some tarts

All on a summer's day.

The Knave of Hearts,

He stole the tarts

And took them clean away.

The King of Hearts,

Called for the tarts

And beat the Knave full sore.

The Knave of Hearts,

Brought back the tarts

And vowed he'd steal no more.

Salute to the captain,

Bow to the king.

Turn around, turn around,

Here comes the queen.

Ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross

To see a fine lady upon a white horse.

Rings on her fingers, and bells on her toes, And she will have music wherever she goes.

Rock-a-bye baby, thy cradle is green,

Father's a nobleman, mother's a queen.

And Betty's a lady and wears a gold ring, And Johnny's a drummer and drums for the king.

There was a princess long ago,

Long ago, long ago,

There was a princess long ago,

Long, long ago.

  • And she lived in a big, high tower...
  • A wicked fairy waved her wand...
  • The princess slept for 100 years...
  • A great, big forest grew all around...
  • A gallant prince came riding by...
  • He chopped the trees down one-by-one...
  • He took the princess by the hand...
  • So everyone is happy now...

One is a giant who stomps his feet,

Two is a fairy so light and neat,

Three is a mouse who crouches small,

And four is a great, big bouncing ball.

Lavender's blue, dilly dilly,

Lavender's green

When you are king, dilly dilly,

I shall be queen.

Who told you so, dilly dilly,

Who told you so?

'Twas my own heart, dilly dilly

That told me so.

The Grand old Duke of York,

He had 10,000 men.

He marched them up to the top of the hill And he marched them down again.

And when they were up, they were up,

And when they were down they were down

And when they were only half-way up

They were neither up nor down!

A silver-scaled dragon with jaws flaming red, Sits at my elbow and toasts my bread.

I hand him fat slices, and then, one-by-one, He hand them back to me, when he sees they are done.

            --William Jay Smith

I know that there are dragons,

St. George's, Jason's, too,

And many modern dragons

With scales of green and blue;

But though I've been there many times

And carefully looked through,

I can't find a dragon

In the cages at the zoo!

            --John Farrar

As the sun came up, a ball of red,

I followed my friend wherever he led.

He though his fast horse would leave me behind, But I rode a dragon as swift as the wind!

Going on a Dragon Hunt

Going on a dragon hunt,

But I'm not afraid.

Got my sword and shield.

Got my golden crown.

Oh-oh, look ahead, there's a scary forest.

Can't go over it,

Can't go under it,

Can't go around it,

Have to go through it.

Tip-toe, tip-toe.

You can climb a tree, cross a marsh, swim a sea, go wherever you want. But I end with a dark dark cave with a dragon inside. I end it one of two ways. Either the dragon ROARs and we all run back the way we came. Or the dragon Roars and I pull out an imaginary marshmallow and ask him to roast it. Either way it's tons of fun.
